Games with broadcast and VAR idChess were held in Iraq

On January 18-20, a New Year’s 2024 tournament for rapid chess using the idChess technology was held in Iraq for the first time.

All the games were digitized and broadcast using idChess. VAR – video assistant referee – was also used to resolve controversial issues during the matches. The tournament was opened by Hayder Abdul Ghani, President of the Al-Qithara chess club and Head of the Coaches Committee, and Khairallah Faisal, President of the Dhi Qar Chess Federation.

Players, organizers, supervisors, and arbiters expressed their admiration for the idChess technology. International coach Al-Asadi Qutaiba, manager of the Al-Qithara responsible for using the idChess technology in the tournament, explained the success of the experiment and the intention to use it in upcoming events.

Moreover, Dhafer Abdul Ameer Madhloom, President of the Iraqi Chess Federation, followed and supervised the course of the tournament events online. He welcomed and praised the advanced experience and expressed his readiness to support the technology in the world of chess to raise the level of the game throughout Iraq.
