The idChess VAR was introduced at the WR Chess Masters Cup 2024

November 5, 2024

On October 14-17, one of the most popular top tournaments was held in London, the WR Chess Masters Cup 2024. It was attended by the best chess players from all over the world: Viswanathan Anand, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Arjun Erigaisi, Alireza Firouzja, and many others.

The arbiters used the idChess VAR for the first time to make decisions during controversial situations.

"I used VAR for monitoring games during the WR Masters 2024. Having such a VAR system is incredibly helpful and necessary for Arbiters, especially for Armageddon games. It added a new level of accuracy to decision-making during intense moments. With further development, ID Chess could become an essential tool for Arbiters around the world," said Shohreh Bayat, FIDE International Arbiter.

The video assistant referee works on the basis of the idChess platform. It is used in tournaments in different countries. On July 3, 2023, FIDE officially announced the use of the idChess VAR in tournaments.
