From March 3 to March 7, the international chess festival 'Aeroflot Open' was held in Moscow.

The festival was attended by more than 450 chess players from 11 countries, including world champions, winners of the Chess Olympiad, and the strongest grandmasters. Players with a FIDE rating over 2300 were allowed to participate.

The winner of the festival was the Iranian grandmaster Mohammad Amin Tabatabaei. He scored 7.5 out of 9 points and won three games in a row in the final round. Russian chess player Andrey Esipenko took second place. He managed to earn 6.5 points and beat three other players with equal results on additional scores. The third place was taken by Nodirbek Yakubboev, Uzbekistan

Bibisara Assaubayeva, Kazakhstan, showed the best result among women. She scored 5.5 points.

The winners of the Children’s Cup of Russia were the participants in four categories:

3rd place – Taimaz Temirbekov

Girls under 15:

1st place – Ulyana Dudkina

2nd place – Diana Khafizova

3rd place – Alisa Chernyshova

Boys under 13:

1st place – Ruslan Gadzhiev

2nd place – Matvey Pyatnitsyn

3rd place – Andrey Babochkin

Girls under 13:

1st place – Tatiana Mozolevskaya

2nd place – Alisa Genrietta Yunker

3rd place – Maria Kalugina
